Latest Release from Alumni Records Released July
MGMT PR | Release Date – 15th July 2019
Alumni Records is the brainchild of Shoogle Studios which is Scotland’s leading electronic music studio. The premise of the label is to release music from students and now with its 3rd release coming up the formula seems to be working rather well with Alumni 001 / 002 still being firm favourites in many DJs sets.
For 003 they utilise the talents of 3 new producers to the label in the shape of Forgotten Frequencies, Chris Elliot and Quartic.
Kicking off is Forgotten Frequencies a hazy low slung piece of house music, the kind of house music that can make the sun feel a little bit warmer. Dusty rhodes chords over cleverly programmed beats and some damn fine bass grooves. FOR THE WIN!
Chris Elliott steps to the plate with a rather more brooding , heads down track. Evolving synth lines navigate the way through this track, organically swelling and contracting whilst all along feeling like you’re totally under the intended control of the producers direction, In the right hands this could bring down the walls.
Quartic rounds up the EP with ‘Compello’ an interesting take as it swaddles its acid line in a big filtered chord riff, which keeps the tension primed for that drop. A big pay off of some fine acid house ensues.
